The first time you wash your Bali Baby Breeze wrap, please wash separately from other clothes. Although the fabrics are boiled after the batiking process is complete and the dyes are set, occasionally some unbonded dye remains in the fabric fibers. You do not need to “set” the dye – you only need to rinse out the excess. This is especially likely if your wrap is a deep color such as turquoise or red. To clean the excess dye from your wrap, simply rinse in warm water several times until the water runs clear. You may wish to add salt to the water in order to speed this process.
Our Bali Baby Breeze wraps are made of lightweight cotton, and they should be treated with care to ensure the longest life of your product. Ideally, Breeze wraps should be hand-washed in leukwarm water with gentle detergent, rinsed well, and hung to dry. We realize that many moms cannot find the time to hand-wash.
If you decide to machine-wash your Bali Baby Breeze wrap, use a gentle setting and a mild detergent. If your machine is a top-loading machine with an agitator, secure your wrap in a pillowcase or mesh sweater bag before washing. This will keep the fabric from wrapping tightly around the agitator and becoming strained, which would cause premature wear or even damage in your fabric.
Ideally gauze wraps will be hung to dry. However, if you find it necessary to machine dry your wrap, please do so separately from other clothing to avoid tangling and dry on low heat or an air-dry setting.
The first time you wash your Bali Baby Stretch wrap, please wash separately from other clothes. Our Bali Baby Stretch wraps are made of knit cotton jersey that becomes stretched out during the batiking process. This is what gives the wraps their unique stretch properties, but it can also leave them a bit “flat” sometimes. The Gypsy Mama finds that machine washing them in warm (not hot!) water and machine-drying on medium heat can help “plump” them a bit. They can of course be hand-washed and hung to dry as well.

Polyester is easy to care for. The sun-blocking properties of this fabric are due to the fabric's weave rather than any other treatments, so no special detergents, etc. are necessary when washing this wrap. Machine wash in cool or warm water (NOT hot!) on gentle cycle. Ideally you will line-dry your water wrap, but you may also machine-dry on low heat or air-dry. Wool is a wonderful fabric. It resists both dirt and odors and will not have to be washed often.
When you receive your wrap, it may feel a bit scratchy or have an odor. Strong preservatives are used in the manufacture of wool, but they wash out easily. Please remember that any returns of washed or gently worn (more than tried-on) wraps will be charged a 15% restocking fee.
To wash: Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent. DO NOT BLEACH! Bleach can completely dissolve wool; check the label on your detergent carefully before washing. Line dry.
Machine washing, especially in a top loader with an agitator, will cause the fibers in your wrap to shrink and knit together, felting it. The wrap will lose its stretch and get thicker and smaller. Machine drying will have this effect also. I strongly recommend hand washing, but if you must machine wash and your machine is a top-loading machine, sercure the wrap in a pillowcase before washing and use cold water and a gentle cycle.
Take any ordinary precautions you would take when storing wool.
